چکیده

We describe a new species of marsupial frog, genus Gastrotheca , using morphological characters and molecular data as lines evidence. The was discovered in the páramo ecotone between humid montane forest Cordillera de Colán, at elevations 3136 3179 m a.s.l., northeastern Peru. is distinguished from all its congeners by combination following characters: coarsely granular skin on dorsum, green dorsal coloration without pattern, finger I shorter than II, turquoise iris, venter blotches, flecks or dots. Furthermore, we include detailed osteological description based Micro-CT scanning. Based our phylogenetic analyses, belongs to marsupiata group, sister G. oresbios closely related psychrophila spectabilis stictopleura one undescribed species. Additionally, test for presence fungal pathogen Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis ( Bd ). No infection detected gemma sp. nov. specimens but prevalence among syntopic frogs.

Cryptic species diversity in marsupial frogs (Anura: Hemiphractidae: Gastrotheca) in the Andes of northern Peru.

Molecular phylogenetic analysis revealed the existence of two undescribed species of the hemiphractid genus Gastrotheca in the Andes in northern Peru. Both species are similar morphologically to Gastrotheca dysprosita and G. monticola, but they differ from these species and from one another in subtleties of coloration and minor variances in size and proportions. Gastrotheca aguaruna sp. nov. (6...

Two sympatric new species of woodlizards (Hoplocercinae, Enyalioides) from Cordillera Azul National Park in northeastern Peru

We report the discovery of two sympatric new species of Enyalioides from a montane rainforest of the Río Huallaga basin in northeastern Peru. Among other characters, the first new species is distinguishable from other Enyalioides by the combination of the following characters: strongly keeled ventral scales, more than 37 longitudinal rows of dorsals in a transverse line between the dorsolateral...

A new species of leopard frog (Anura: Ranidae) from the urban northeastern US.

Past confusion about leopard frog (genus Rana) species composition in the Tri-State area of the US that includes New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), and Connecticut (CT) has hindered conservation and management efforts, especially where populations are declining or imperiled. We use nuclear and mitochondrial genetic data to clarify the identification and distribution of leopard frog species in this...

A new species of semiarboreal toad of the Rhinella festae group (Anura, Bufonidae) from the Cordillera Azul National Park, Peru

A new semiarboreal species of the Rhinella festae group is described from montane forests of the Cordillera Azul National Park between 1245 and 1280 m a.s.l. in the Cordillera Oriental, San Martín region, northern Peru. The new species is morphologically and genetically compared with members of the Rhinella acrolopha group (former genus Rhamphophryne) and members of the R. festae group. The new...

Two New Species of Centrolenella (anura: Centrolenidae) from Northwestern Peru

Two new species of Centrolenella are described from the Pacific versant of the Andes in northern Peru (Rio Zana, Cajamarca Department). These constitute the first records for the genus on the western slopes of the Andes in Peru. Centrolenella euhystrix, a large species (males to 31.3 mm, females to 33.6 mm snout-vent length), has a distinctive coloration (dark greenish black when active at nigh...
